I approach each topic based on feeling out the room or student, determine the learning style of the child or children, by introducing myself and my background of tutoring, school, and research. Give a simply arithmetic quiz to see where they are and from there construct a plan for the group or student. I do progress checks to see if they are getting better or mastered subject.
