About Abigail

I am a dedicated and reliable tutor currently studying Pharmacy at the University of Birmingham, with a strong academic background in Maths, Chemistry, and Biology. I achieved grades 9–8 across all my GCSEs and went on to secure A grades in all three subjects at A-level, giving me a deep understanding of both the content and exam techniques required to succeed.

I understand that every student learns differently, which is why I take a patient and supportive approach in all my lessons. I aim to create a comfortable environment where students feel confident asking questions and are never afraid to make mistakes. For example, when working with students like Abigail, I focus on building confidence step by step, ensuring they fully understand each topic before moving on.

As a current university student, I am very familiar with the latest exam specifications and the pressures students face. This allows me to provide relevant guidance, effective revision strategies, and up-to-date exam practice to help students achieve their target grades.

I am committed, organised, and genuinely passionate about helping students succeed. My goal is not only to improve grades but also to help students develop long-term confidence and independent learning skills that will benefit them beyond exams.

About the lesson

My approach to tutoring is centred around patience, clarity, and building confidence in every student. I understand that subjects like Maths, Chemistry, and Biology can feel overwhelming, so I break down complex topics into simple, easy-to-understand steps. I also focus heavily on exam technique, as knowing how to answer questions effectively is just as important as understanding the content.

In my lessons, I use a structured approach:
• Start with a quick review of previous content to reinforce learning
• Teach new material in a clear, step-by-step way
• Work through exam-style questions together
• End with independent practice and feedback to ensure understanding

I adapt my teaching style depending on the student’s needs. For example, if a student like Abigail is struggling with confidence, I take extra time to explain concepts in different ways until they feel comfortable. If a student is aiming for top grades, I challenge them with harder questions and focus on exam technique to push them to A/A* level.

A typical lesson lasts 60 minutes, which allows enough time to cover content in depth while keeping the student focused and engaged. Longer sessions can be arranged if needed, especially closer to exams.

I am currently a student pharmacist at the University of Birmingham, with strong academic achievements including grades 9–8 at GCSE and A grades in A-level Maths, Chemistry, and Biology. I have experience helping students understand difficult topics and improve their exam performance through structured practice and clear explanations.
