About Ian
I am a Local Chicago Guitarist taking on new music students online and in person on the north side. I have been a private guitar teacher for 18 years alongside performing in many ensembles. I focus on guitar maintenance, fundamentals, healthy posture, practice habits and music theory for guitar.

Before a student signs up, I recommend them to think about their music goals, buy a copy of Hal Leonard's guitar method. At the first lesson, I greet a new student as if they are a guest in my home. Then we make sure we have a clear plan to get set up and that it is important to stick to this plan every lesson and every time we pick up our instrument. That includes getting lesson material onto a music stand, amp set up, tuning, using a guitar strap, and a proper chair or standing room. Student must keep a mirror in their practice space. About 3 or 4 lessons in, we will go over instrument maintenance and string changing but the moment we are set up, it's time to make some noise.
