Tutoring should be focused on helping the student achieve his expected exam grade. Nothing more nothing less. learning the theory is useful but solving the past papers is the way to go. Typically 1 two-hour or 2 shorter sessions per week can help you achieve your target grade provided that it is not last minute.
I have been a tutor throughout my academic years to elementary all the way up to undergraduates students.
