About Nicole
I hold a Master's degree in Applied Economics and a Bachelor's degree in Economics with additional academic training in Applied Mathematics. My graduate work required extensive use of statistics, econometrics, quantitative methods, and applied data analysis.
I have several years of experience tutoring statistics and have also served as a university teaching assistant for econometrics and other economics courses. For my graduate thesis, I used STATA to manage data, conduct statistical and econometric analyses, and interpret empirical results.
Because I have experience both teaching quantitative material and using it in applied research, I focus on helping students understand not only how to complete a calculation, but why a particular statistical method is being used and what the result means.

I help students understand statistics by focusing on the reasoning behind each method rather than simply memorizing formulas. I break problems into clear steps and connect calculations to what the results actually mean, which is especially helpful for students who feel overwhelmed by quantitative coursework.
A typical lesson begins with the material you are currently working on so we can identify exactly where things stopped making sense. We then review the underlying concept, work through examples together, and practice applying the method independently. I can also help with homework review, exam preparation, interpreting statistical output, and strengthening foundational concepts.
Topics I can help with include descriptive statistics, probability, distributions, hypothesis testing, confidence intervals, correlation, regression analysis, statistical significance, model interpretation, and other quantitative methods. I also have experience with econometrics and statistical analysis in STATA and can help students understand how statistical concepts translate into applied data analysis.
My lessons are especially suited for undergraduate, graduate, economics, business, and social science students taking statistics or quantitatively focused courses.
