About James
Hi! My name is James, and I’m a recent VCE graduate from Waverley Christian College. Before I get too far into introductions, let me save you some time and address what you’re probably here for — my results. ATAR: 99.70 Scaled 50s in: • Specialist Mathematics • Mathematical Methods • Chinese Second Language Raw 40+ study scores in: • English • Chemistry While I’m incredibly proud of these results, what made completing VCE truly rewarding was helping others succeed alongside me. On ATAR release day, within minutes of opening my own results, I received over ten messages and calls, not asking how I went, but thanking me for helping them throughout the year. I’ve never been one to gatekeep knowledge. Whether it was tutoring math, proofreading English essays, or sharing Chemistry notes, I was always happy to help. Messages like “James, thank you so much, you genuinely carried me” were easily the highlight of my year. During school, I was part of Math Plus, an after-school support program for students who were stuck, confused, or overwhelmed by math. One moment that’s stayed with me was a student who walked in convinced they were “just bad at math.” After breaking a question down step by step, they paused and said, “Wait… that’s literally it?” Watching that shift from stress to clarity and confidence is still my favorite part of teaching. Through VCE, I learned that success in math isn’t about memorizing tricks — it’s about understanding patterns, building intuition, and thinking clearly under exam pressure. That’s exactly how I teach: slowing things down, making ideas logical, and removing the intimidation that often comes with math. Alongside this, my leadership roles in SRC and as House Captain helped me develop strong communication skills and the ability to read the room — skills that translate directly into effective and engaging tutoring, especially in group settings. My goal is to create a supportive but focused environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and pushing themselves to improve. Ultimately, I don’t just want my students to score higher — I want them to feel confident, capable, and in control of their learning.

My tutoring goes beyond simply teaching content. I focus on helping you understand how to study efficiently, avoid common mistakes, and perform consistently across SACs and exams. During lessons, I am also happy to provide free assistance in other VCE subjects whenever needed, so you get maximum value from each session.
Sessions are typically 60-90 minutes and run every week. Year 11 and 12 students can opt to sign up for additional weekly workshop sessions beyond regular classes in order to tackle exam and SAC strategies more in depth.
Outside of class, you are never on your own. I will answer questions 24/7, whether you’re stuck on homework, revising for a SAC, or preparing for exams. Every student I work with also receives a personalised study plan, tailored to your strengths, weaknesses, and academic goals.
With me, students will have access to over 300+ SACs and Exams free of charge. (T&Cs apply)
