• When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?

  I developed an interest in tutoring law when I realised there was no road map of expectations that I could follow as a student. It was a case of progressing blindly. I felt it was time to share my knowledge and experience so I could be more of a mentor to others to help them understand what is required in their present and future studies.

• Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).

  I teach more than 25 areas of law. I love the law. I learn more as I teach more. It is enriching and rewarding for me. I cannot say that I dislike any topics but perhaps admin Law is not a favourite.

• Did you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you?

  I have had a long list of mentors in my work career and my academic career. Numerous professors like Prof Mike Adams, Martin Polaine, Dr Andrew Lawson, Dr Anne Fitzgerald, Bridge Nolan, Raphael Tay, Paul Akon, Anthony Strazzera. So many.

• What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?

  It is not tutoring that is important. It is being a mentor. To properly teach, you must lead. If you are a good role model, you cannot help but be an excellent teacher.

• Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

  Anthony Strazzera was a Melbourne Uni professor who taught me English at Geelong Grammar. He was the best teacher I ever had. He never answered a single question. We answered every question he asked. He was the best.

• What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or are still facing in your subject?

  Law is a massive industry. The volume of knowledge is unsurpassable. One can never stop learning.

• Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general or an element of the subject or something completely different?

  I am passionate about format, presentation, planning, and detail. I was never like that until I studied law. So, I pass on what I have learned.

• What makes you a Superprof (besides answering these interview questions)?

  I am a coach and a mentor with deep experience in many areas of life. I can help others in their studies and make them happier throughout their careers. I am a mentor.
