About Dylan

My name is Dylan Laker. I have an Award-Winning Short Film, and I am the Director of Photography for my own Studio. I work on set to assist and direct the camera team, as well as adjust and maintain lighting conditions as per the director's instructions. I have spent over 11 years with Cameras, from SLR reflex Film Cameras all the way to Digital Cinema Cameras. I personally use a Fujifilm GFX 100. I particularly like to Photograph Animals, but I also do client work as a Headshot Photographer. I started my own Studio in 2022, and I am currently in Post-Production of my latest Short Film, which will enter festivals this autumn. I am happy to teach and assist; no question is considered a silly question in my book. I take a very hands-on approach to my teaching, in my work I also have to be very hands-on. I feel it is the best way to learn and is more engaging and encouraging than hours of essays and theoretics.

About the lesson

Length of a Lesson is 1 Hour; these can take place face to face or online. I teach with a hands-on approach, keeping it simple and concise without an over-reliance on overwhelming technical terms. Being a Cinematographer, also known as a Director of Photography, I assist people on set to achieve the best captures and takes for post-production. I have shot everything from Weddings to Movies, Adverts, and I personally created Miss GB 2024's Demo reel for her competition run. My Lessons are for all ages; it's never too late or too early to learn even the fundamentals.

Perfect! My son recently had a photography session with Dylan, and we were very impressed. He came well-prepared for the class, bringing along printed materials with valuable information about photography and camera usage. He had also printed some of my son's trial shots to review and explain what could be improved.

Dylan is extremely knowledgeable in his field and an excellent tutor. He explained everything clearly and broke down complex concepts into manageable, easy-to-understand parts. The lesson was interactive, engaging, and easy to follow.

We highly recommend Dylan to anyone looking to learn photography or prepare for A-Level exams.
