About Jake
Hi! My name is Jake and I have recently graduated from Melbourne High School in 2024, achieving a raw 41 in Math Methods and scaled 50 Specialist Math alongside an impressive ATAR. Throughout my VCE years, I achieved a score of 97/100 for Methods SACS, A+, and also 89/100 for Specialist Math SACS, A+. Currently, I am studying Bachelor of Commerce at the University of Melbourne, expecting to major in Actuarial Studies. Furthermore, I intend to undertake Masters of Engineering as a postgraduate course. While doing so, I am undertaking both linear algebra and calculus in my first year, and planning to study both Statistics and Probability for my second year. Alongside my scores of scaled 50 Specialist Math and raw 41 in Math Methods (Scaled 47), I have some prior experience tutoring younger students of Math Methods about the fundamentals of each key concept. I strongly believe that those who try their hardest will always get the outcome they want. Even if you struggle with math, don't worry! As I struggled with math myself when I was young, I believe that if I can do it, you can do it as well!

To strengthen your understanding at mathematics is to understand fully of each concepts and the necessity of doing so. Mindlessly doing questions without attempting to understand fully can prevent your understanding of each concepts but also the future of more difficult concepts (As a person who has done this before). Hence, I will emphasise on the importance of understanding by not only explaining each concepts but also include lots of intellectual thinking that would prioritise students understanding of the concepts.
Reading the textbook itself and carelessly doing questions won't let you get that far ahead in maths. Although doing questions can be helpful, it is rather less efficient to do them thoughtlessly, but rather delving deeper into understanding 'how' the concept works is the key criteria all students should have at the end.
Throughout my lesson, I aim to further flourish the students' passion and interest for the subject, mathematics a lot more than what they originally had. Even if you may not be the most fluent at the subject, my goal is to support you to achieving what you truly could achieve.
Having graduated just recently from high school at 2024, I am known to have familiarity with the recently changed Study Design for VCE Mathematical Methods but also Specialist Maths. I will not only help you understand the concepts required in the subject, but I will also personally prepare questions made by myself, that will approach each concepts with innovative strategies and also give tips on how to enhance performance during exams or tests.
My lessons are designed for anyone attending year 7 - 10 and VCE Maths subjects. However, I am also comfortable teaching anyone between Prep to Year 6 if they need help with NAPLAN or school tests.
