About Ant

Hi! I'm a native and certified Mandarin tutor with a deep love for language and an even deeper passion for people. For over eight years, I’ve taught English to learners from all walks of life, and for the past three years, I’ve been proudly helping adults around the world master Mandarin.

My classroom isn’t just a place to learn vocabulary—it’s a place to grow confidence, explore culture, and discover new ways of seeing the world. As a lifelong language learner myself, I understand the excitement and the struggles that come with learning a new tongue. I’ve felt that nervous pause before speaking, and I know how powerful it feels to finally express yourself clearly.

That’s why I teach with patience, encouragement, and a strong focus on real-life communication—so you don’t just memorize Mandarin… you actually use it.

Born and raised in Taiwan, I carry with me a rich understanding of Asian culture, which I love to share with my students. Whether you're learning Mandarin for travel, work, or personal passion, I'll guide you through both the language and the cultural nuances that make it come alive.

About the lesson

If you’ve tried learning Mandarin before, chances are it felt like wading through quicksand—tones, characters, and endless vocabulary lists that just wouldn’t stick. Maybe you tried apps that promised fluency in 10 minutes a day, or group classes where you barely spoke a word. Most adult learners walk away thinking, "Maybe Mandarin just isn’t for me."

That’s where I come in.

As your Mandarin tutor, I specialize in teaching adults—not textbook robots, but real people with real goals and busy lives.My method is conversation-first, pressure-free, and designed around how adult brains learn best:

- Spoken Mandarin comes first—we build confidence through speaking, listening, and practical dialogue, not endless memorization.
- Tones taught naturally, using rhythm, visuals, and real-life cues (you won’t just repeat tones—you’ll feel them)
- Grammar demystified—we don’t get lost in theory. You’ll use grammar intuitively from day one.
- Visual and cultural memory tricks that help you remember and relate to characters and vocabulary.

Each 60-minute session is carefully structured yet flexible to your pace:
1. Warm-up
2. Core focus: A themed topic (ordering food, small talk, navigating cities, etc.) taught through spoken practice and cultural context
3. Breakdown moments: We pause to explain grammar or pronunciation—but only when it helps, never to overwhelm.
4. Live practice: You speak, ask, respond, and even play with Mandarin to build real confidence.
5. Wrap-up

I meet you where you are. That means:
- No pressure to be “perfect” (especially with tones)
- Lessons tailored to your career, travel plans, or even personal goals
- Encouragement without condescension
- Consistent feedback that celebrates progress—not just points out what’s wrong
