About Annie
Hi! I’m a former Big 4 Chartered Accountant with a First-Class degree in Maths but more importantly, I truly understand what it’s like to struggle in Maths… and how to overcome it. At school, I went from getting Ds (equivalent to grade 3) in GCSE Maths to an A* (equivalent to grade 8/9) in the real exams — all in just two months. I didn’t suddenly become smarter; I just learnt how to study smarter. Now, I help students do the same. I’m currently offering an introductory rate for my first few students whilst I am new on this site. My standard rate will be higher in future, but I’d love to support your learning at this reduced rate for now!

Subjects I tutor: • Maths – Primary school to GCSE • Chinese (Cantonese) – For beginners and second-language learners My Maths Tutoring Approach: With over 10 years of experience tutoring, running after-school Maths clubs, and supporting classroom learning, I make Maths clear, enjoyable, and confidence-building. I design every lesson to match your exam board (Edexcel, AQA, OCR, WJEC, or others) and tier, ensuring you’re ready for the real exams. You tell me your goals, and I’ll build a focused plan to help you reach them. I’ll ask about your exam board, current topics, and where you’re finding things tricky. From there, I design personalised lessons with targeted resources and timed, exam-style questions so you’re not just learning the content, but also building the skills and confidence to tackle real exam conditions. Cantonese Tutoring: Cantonese is my mother tongue, and I love helping others discover it. My lessons focus on clear pronunciation, everyday vocabulary, and cultural insights. I’ve worked with both children and adult learners who want to connect more deeply with the language and culture.

Annie is a super interesting person, she’s sharp and engaging which makes every session fly by. My pronunciation improved a lot thanks to her!
I’ve always done well in school, especially in subjects like English, history, and anything that involves discussion or writing. Maths, though, was never something I enjoyed—it just didn’t click in the same way. It wasn’t that I couldn’t do it, but more that I didn’t connect with it and found it hard to stay motivated. Still, I knew I needed to pass my GCSE and was aiming for a C.
Working with Annie really helped me stay on track. They understood that I wasn’t coming in with a maths mindset, and they didn’t make me feel bad about that. Instead of trying to turn me into someone who suddenly loves maths, they helped me approach it in a way that made sense to me. Their explanations were clear and grounded in logic, and they were patient when I needed to go over something more than once. Over time, I started to understand areas I used to avoid—like algebra and problem-solving. I didn’t suddenly become someone who loves maths, but I did feel like I had more control over it, rather than the other way around. I got better at staying focused, and my confidence definitely improved.
In the end, I met the grade I was aiming for, which I’m proud of. The sessions gave me the support I needed to get through something I found difficult, and I can look back on that experience as something that really helped me move forward.I can honestly say Annie made a huge difference in my Maths exams. She explained things in a way that finally made sense to me and she always checked in to make sure we were meeting my goals.
She’s super patient and never made me feel bad for needing extra help. On top of that, she gave me the morale boost I needed!View more recommendations
