About Mengzhi
As a PhD student who also TAs at UCSD, I have helped hundreds of students, from freshmen to seniors, succeed in their class. My TA experience has given me a deep understanding of chemistry and effective teaching strategies, which I adapt to suit high school students by making complex topics accessible, engaging, and easy to understand. I create a supportive and engaging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and developing problem-solving skills. With my expertise and commitment, I help students achieve their academic goals and excel in chemistry.

My teaching style is interactive and concept-driven, emphasizing real-world applications to make chemistry/biology engaging and understandable. I use a mix of visual aids, simulations of experiments, and problem-solving exercises to reinforce key concepts. A typical lesson starts with a quick review, followed by an in-depth exploration of the topic with real-life examples, and ends with guided practice and Q&A. What sets me apart is my ability to simplify complex topics, to interconnect multiple concepts and make all of them more comprehensible, and to adapt my teaching to different learning styles. My lessons are designed for high school students of all levels, whether they need help grasping fundamentals or preparing for advanced coursework and exams.
