About Maia
I hold a B.Sc in Biological Sciences and an M.Sc in Integrative Biology, with 12 years of experience teaching biology to students from diverse academic backgrounds. My academic journey allowed me to explore biology from molecular mechanisms to ecosystem-level interactions. My teaching approach is calm, organized, and supportive. I focus on helping students structure information meaningfully and develop confidence in scientific explanation. I encourage questions, reflection, and discussion to strengthen understanding. Beyond teaching, I stay connected to biology through scientific reading and curriculum development. Biology becomes engaging when learners understand how living systems connect and interact rather than memorizing isolated facts. My lessons are designed to help students see biology as a coherent story, from cellular processes to whole organisms and ecosystems. I use clear explanations, diagrams, and conceptual links to help learners visualize processes and understand cause-and-effect relationships. Each lesson is structured to encourage curiosity while maintaining clarity and focus.
Students begin with foundational topics such as cell structure, biomolecules, enzymes, and genetics. As understanding grows, lessons expand into physiology, molecular biology, evolution, plant biology, and ecology. I emphasize concept mapping, scientific vocabulary, diagram labeling, and structured written responses. Guided practice and discussion help reinforce understanding and build confidence.
Biology lessons also develop observation, reasoning, and appreciation for life sciences. Over time, students become more confident explaining complex processes and linking ideas across topics. My aim is to help learners feel capable, engaged, and inspired by biology.
