About Mishita
Hi, I'm Mishita — a Biomedical Sciences graduate from the University of Southampton, with four years of tutoring experience in Biology, Chemistry, and Mathematics at GCSE and A-Level.
My passion for science goes beyond the classroom. I completed a 13-month placement at Eli Lilly and Company, working in Global Patient Safety. This real-world experience in the life sciences industry means I bring genuine depth and enthusiasm to every subject I teach. When I explain how enzymes work or why chemical reactions behave the way they do, I can draw on real examples from working inside a global healthcare organisation — and students find that connection to the real world genuinely motivating.
I achieved Biology A*, Chemistry A, and Mathematics A at A-Level, so I have sat exactly the same exams my students are preparing for. I know where the difficult topics are, I know what examiners are looking for, and I know how it feels to sit in that exam room under pressure. That shared experience helps me connect with students in a way that builds genuine trust and confidence.
Over four years I have worked with approximately 15 students, supporting them through GCSEs and A-Levels with results that I am proud of — including a student who progressed from a C to an A grade in A-Level Biology through consistent, structured sessions focused on rebuilding their foundational understanding and exam confidence.
I believe every student is capable of achieving more than they think. My role is not just to explain content — it is to help students believe in their own ability, remove the anxiety that often surrounds science and maths, and give them the tools and techniques to perform at their very best when it matters most.
Whether you are looking to catch up, consolidate your understanding, or push for the highest grades, I would love to help. Please don't hesitate to get in touch — I offer a free 15-minute introductory conversation before we commit to anything, so we can make sure we're a great fit for each other.
I look forward to working with you.

MY APPROACH TO TUTORING
My teaching philosophy is simple — understanding always comes before memorisation. In my experience, students who struggle with Biology, Chemistry, or Maths aren't struggling because they lack ability. They're struggling because something earlier in the topic wasn't explained in a way that made sense to them. My job is to find that gap, fill it properly, and rebuild their confidence from there.
Every student I work with gets a completely personalised experience. In our very first session I spend time genuinely understanding where they are not just what grade they're getting, but why they're getting it. What topics feel unclear? Where does their confidence drop? What does their exam technique look like under pressure? From there I build a structured plan that we work through together, adjusting as we go based on what's working.
My Teaching Techniques
I use a combination of approaches depending on what each student needs:
1. Concept-first explanation — before we touch a past paper, I make sure the underlying concept is genuinely understood. I use real-world examples wherever possible, drawing on my experience working at Eli Lilly in the pharmaceutical industry to bring science to life beyond the textbook. When a student understands why something works the way it does, it stops feeling like something to memorise and starts feeling like something that makes sense.
2. Past paper practice and exam technique — once concepts are solid, we work through past papers systematically. I teach students how to read mark schemes, how to structure longer answers, how to pick up method marks even when they're unsure of the final answer, and how to manage their time effectively in the exam room.
3. Active recall and spaced repetition — rather than passive re-reading of notes, I use questioning techniques during sessions to test understanding in real time. This approach is backed by strong evidence for long-term retention and genuinely improves performance under exam conditions.
4. Post-session summaries — after every session I send a brief written summary of what we covered, what clicked well, and what to focus on before our next session. This keeps both the student and their parents informed and ensures continuity between sessions.
Typical Lesson Structure
Sessions are typically 60 minutes long, though 90-minute sessions are available for students covering multiple topics or approaching exams. A typical session looks like this:
1. First 5-10 minutes — quick recap of the previous session and any homework or practice completed
2. Main 40-45 minutes — new concept explanation, worked examples, and student practice
3. Final 10 minutes — exam technique focus, past paper questions on the topic covered, and setting focus points for next time
My Qualifications and Experience
I am a Biomedical Sciences graduate from the University of Southampton, currently in my final year and on track for a First Class degree. I completed a 13-month industrial placement at Eli Lilly and Company, one of the world's leading pharmaceutical companies — working in Global Patient Safety. This gave me exceptional depth in applied life sciences that I bring directly into my science tutoring.
At A-Level I achieved Biology A*, Chemistry A, and Mathematics A — so I have sat exactly the same exams my students are preparing for and understand the pressure and the pitfalls first-hand.
I have four years of tutoring experience working with approximately 15 students across GCSE and A-Level. My most notable result is a student who progressed from a C to an A grade in A-Level Biology through consistent weekly sessions focused on rebuilding their foundational understanding and exam confidence.
Who My Lessons Are For
My tutoring is suitable for:
1. GCSE students (ages 14-16) in Biology, Chemistry, and Mathematics — whether catching up, consolidating, or pushing for top grades
2. A-Level students (ages 16-18) in Biology, Chemistry, and Mathematics — including those finding the jump from GCSE significantly harder than expected
3. Students who feel they "just don't get science" — I specialise in breaking down complex concepts until they genuinely make sense, not just until they can be repeated
4. Students preparing for upcoming exams who need focused, structured exam technique coaching alongside content revision
