About Selin
I have a 2:1 in Neuroscience at UCL and Distinction in MSc Neuroscience from King's College London. I have had experience working as a trainee teacher for a PGCE at the IoE teaching 11-16 year olds secondary school science (biology, chemistry and physics). I also have experience doing one-to-one work as both a trainee teacher and teaching assistant for children with special educational needs (autism, dyslexia, dyscalculia, behavioural emotional social difficulties, specific learning difficulties, down's syndrome, cerebral palsy, literacy difficulties) at St Thomas More Catholic School, Gladesmore Community School, Wren Academy and Clapton Girls Academy as well as other schools in north London. Before starting the PGCE at the Institute of Education I volunteered for two weeks at Houndsfield Primary School in Edmonton. I love teaching at both primary school and secondary school levels. I love working with young people, am very patient and empathic and I'm happy to be both a mentor and friendly company to any struggling students.

I have trained in school science pedagogy at the Institute of Education so I am aware of scaffolding techniques that involve questioning and producing resources with appropriate (audio)visual aids to guide students through learning that is both independent and suited to their abilities. I am very patient and believe all different students have strengths that can be utilised to improve their learning and achievement.
