About Teresa

I am a single mom of 2 who are 10 years apart and very active. I am a Business School graduate and work as an IT Professional currently.

I also create, Host and Produce my own Podcast that just celebrated it's 2-year-anniversary. In my spare time, I am an avid reader, I write everything from poetry to essays.

I am usually reading about 5 books at a time of all genres. I excel in editing and grammar usage.

I am down-to-earth and love to laugh BUT I will never be dishonest or discouraging.

About the lesson

As a tutor specializing in reading and writing for all ages, my approach aims to be inclusive, engaging, and personalized to meet the needs of each individual student. Here are some teaching methods and techniques I can use:

1. A brief assessment to understand the student's current reading and writing abilities.

2. Develop personalized learning plans for each student based on their strengths, weaknesses, and goals. This will ensure that my teaching is targeted and effective.

3. Include some fun for the students in interactive activities such as reading aloud, creative writing exercises, and educational games dependent on age of student and need.

**Typical Lesson Plan:**

1. **Introduction (5 mins):** Begin the lesson with a brief discussion on the importance of reading and writing skills.

2. **Main Lesson (30 mins):**
- Introduce a reading or writing activity based on the student's level.
- Provide instructions and guidance on the task.
- Engage the student in the activity, offering support and feedback as needed.

4. **Interactive Practice (15 mins):**
- Conduct interactive exercises such as reading comprehension quizzes, vocabulary games, or creative writing prompts.

5. **Review and Feedback (10 mins):**
- Review the student's work together.
- Provide constructive feedback and suggestions for improvement.
- Encourage the student and celebrate their progress.

6. **Homework Assignment (5 mins):** Assign a relevant reading or writing task for the student to complete before the next session.

**What Sets Me Apart as a Tutor:**

Reading and Writing have always been an outlet for me and it still excites me to this day.

I enjoy seeing the progress of a student and helping them and their families to achieve their goals. I am open, honest and communicative. I, as well, will make sure that I am the right fit for a potential student to ensure that the process is a win on both sides.

I am also a mother of 2 from elementary school to college and they both needed extra-help at times and I understand how frustrating it can be without proper support. I choose to learn and grow myself everyday and I am glad to help others as well.

By combining these elements in my tutoring approach, I aim to create a supportive and enriching learning environment that fosters growth and success in reading and writing for students of all ages.
