About Max
I am an undergraduate English student at the University of Cambridge.
For the last two years, I have worked for the tuition company, Explore Learning, where I have tutored English to over 300 students aged 4-18. I have taught classes on a range of topics and skills, including literary analysis, creative writing and examination preparation. I am very familiar with the GCSE and A-level curriculum and specialise in teaching pupils for these exams.
I have also worked as a teaching assistant at The Harefield Academy, where I led 1:1 classes for students with special educational needs and disabilities
During my summers, I have worked with young people outside of the classroom, working on an American summer camp in 2018 and the NCS program this year. These experience have helped me learn how to build bonds with young people to help them succeed and reach their full potential.

In my classes, I aim to instil students with a sensitivity to literature through close reading of poetry, drama and prose. This encourages them to respond to texts intelligently and individually, while developing their writing style.
I also focus on exam technique and practice. Each exam paper from each exam board has their small but distinct differences. It's important to consider exactly what the examiner is looking for in preparation for GCSEs and A-Levels.
I also have experience of the Oxbridge admission system and offer classes on writing personal statements and preparing for interviews
