About Veronica

Veronica is a Soprano and holds a Trinity College London Licentiate Diploma, Recital in Singing with Distinction and a Diploma in Singing Performance with Honours, St. Cecilia School Of Music, Australia.

Veronica’s music story started when she composed her first piece of music, she was six years old and she named her composition after a shampoo called ZP11. She still composes music, arranges the music of the songs she sings and she arranges music for songwriters.

Veronica values all types of music and when she recalls her childhood and her development as a competent musician, she mentions musicians like Harold Faltermeyer, Vangelis, Jeff Wayne and Mike Batt and the band Schiller among a list of musicians who impressed her and influenced her own music.

At nine years of age she won her first public singing competition and from then on other musicians invited her to be part of their shows. Working with experienced musicians allowed Veronica to gain a broad spectrum of skills, knowledge and understanding as far as singing and playing keyboards, arranging music and performing various styles of music is concerned.

In 1992, at the age of 14 she had the opportunity to perform at a Variety Artists Annual Ball which was held in Auckland, New Zealand and in the audience were the Patron, The Rt. Hon. Sir Robert Muldoon a former Prime Minister of New Zealand and his wife Lady Muldoon. Veronica had the privilege again the following year to perform for Lady Muldoon. In the years that followed Veronica would have similar opportunities, that's to say she would perform in front of various dignitaries, for example in 2008 she had the privilege to perform for The Rt. Hon. Helen Clark, who at the time was the Prime Minister of New Zealand.

Another highlight for Veronica was the 2008 Annual Competitions held by the Southland Competitions Society Inc in affiliation with the Performing Arts Competitions Association of New Zealand (Inc – Pacanz), she achieved seven first placings during the event.

Her early singing influencers were singers like Barbra Streisand, Barbara Dickson, Miriam Stockley, Sarah Brightman and later opera singers Maria Callas, Kiri Te Kanawa and Katherine Jenkins. She also enjoys Clannad, Enigma, bands like Police, Queen and Pink Floyd just to mention a few. She enjoys singing and listening to the music of composers like Mozart, Beethoven, Rachmaninov, Stravinsky and Gaetano Donizetti, a composer whose music she really loves to sing.

About the lesson

I use vocal exercises and the songs are structured to accommodate all ages and singing levels.

I give them basic keyboard lessons.
I record them singing. They get feedback by listening to their recordings.
The students learn to listen and analyse their own voices and improve their singing by listening carefully and correcting their mistakes themselves.
