About Morgan

I'm originally from the United States and have been living in Germany for 3 years. I am currently an assistant business manager and working to begin my career as an English teacher. I have always loved to travel and learn about new cultures and languages. I have a Bachelor's degree in International Studies with a minor in Linguistic Anthropology. In October of 2020 I received my CELTA from Cambridge English Assessment. Although new to the career of teaching, my experience working in customer service and business management has prepared me to become adaptable, compassionate and flexible. I have learned Spanish, French, German and Russian and I understand the many difficulties language learners face.

About the lesson

My teaching method is always focused on the learner. Understanding why they want to learn English. Is it to find work? Travel? Everyday life? By understanding their reasons why, it helps motivate and push my students towards their goals. I create learner profiles that include their learning style (for example: audio or visual learner), age, what do they like about English, their short and long-term goals, etc. The more I get to know the student the more I can create custom lessons unique only to them! I like to work with a variety of materials outside of the traditional textbook. I enjoy being creative so that the student is always engaged. When teaching in groups, the goal of my lesson is to have the students work with each other for the answers from their peers and less from the teacher. I want to empower my students and build their confidence in English; that is where real growth happens! All lessons will be taught only in English. Although difficult, it pushes the students to think more in English. I avoid using the students native language unless absolutely necessary. When tutoring for homework help I base my lessons around what the student is learning in school based off their notes and coursework.
