About Adam
I am a licensed 5–12 Math teacher and K–12 Special Education educator with a passion for helping students build confidence, overcome challenges, and succeed academically. With years of experience working with learners of varying abilities, I understand that every student learns differently and deserves instruction tailored to their unique strengths and needs.
My background in both mathematics and special education allows me to break down difficult concepts into clear, manageable steps while creating a supportive, patient, and encouraging learning environment. I specialize in helping students who may be struggling with math, need extra academic support, have learning differences, or simply benefit from a different teaching approach.
I believe learning should be productive, engaging, and confidence-building. My goal is not only to help students improve grades, complete assignments, and prepare for tests, but also to help them truly understand concepts and become independent learners. Whether a student needs help with basic math, pre-algebra, algebra, geometry, problem solving, homework support, or skill-building, I am committed to helping them grow and succeed.
As an educator, I pride myself on being patient, approachable, and dedicated to meeting students where they are—because every learner is capable of progress with the right support and guidance.

As a tutor, my approach is centered around building confidence, creating understanding, and meeting each student where they are academically. With my background as a licensed 5–12 Math teacher and K–12 Special Education educator, I understand that every student learns differently. My teaching style is patient, supportive, and individualized to help students not only improve grades, but truly understand the “why” behind math concepts.
I use a step-by-step teaching method that breaks down complex problems into manageable parts. I incorporate guided practice, real-world examples, visuals, repetition, and targeted questioning to identify misconceptions and strengthen problem-solving skills. For students who struggle with focus, organization, or learning differences, I adapt lessons to provide additional structure and strategies that fit their learning style.
A typical lesson begins with reviewing prior knowledge or any current assignments, identifying areas of struggle, and setting a goal for the session. From there, I provide direct instruction, model examples, guide the student through practice problems, and gradually release responsibility so they can solve independently. I also check for understanding throughout the lesson and provide feedback and strategies to improve confidence and retention.
What sets me apart is my combination of math content expertise and special education experience. I have extensive experience helping students who are struggling, behind grade level, or simply need concepts explained in a different way. I focus on patience, relationship-building, and creating a low-stress environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and learning from mistakes.
My lessons are designed for upper elementary, middle school, and high school students, including learners needing support in basic math, pre-algebra, algebra, geometry, math intervention, problem solving, homework help, test preparation, and skill-building. I also work well with students who have IEPs, learning differences, executive functioning challenges, or those who simply need extra support to succeed. My goal is to help every student become more independent, confident, and successful in math.
