About Amber

Hello artists!

I am pleased to spend time with you developing your interest in anything artistic. I truly believe it is WORTH YOUR TIME to invest in creative expression in ANY capacity and I am here to create a individualized plan WITH YOU and FOR YOU!

My name is Amber and I am a certified Visual Arts Specialist with a Bachelors degree in Art and a Masters degree in Education. I have worked with students ages 5-17 for over twenty years. I train and coach adults studying to be art teachers! Art education is my career and my joy!

Some of you will want to focus on the PROCESS more than the PRODUCT meaning, maybe you want to create because you like it and don't necessarily care if it's "GOOD". Others are all about improving your skills and showcasing your talents. Regardless of where you are at or where you want to go, I am here for it wholeheartedly and excited to work with you.

About the lesson

My curriculum will meet the needs of students between the ages of 7-15. My art students and I work together from the beginning to create an individualized program that is engaging and targeted towards personal goals. It is all about student choice, growth, and overall creative well-being.

My foundational curriculum options are:
I. Art Exploration
This is a great option for students who want to do a little bit
of everything and want to use a variety of media while doing
it: oil pastels, drawing pencils, design markers, acrylic paint
etc.. Students will learn a variety of techniques while
exploring drawing, design, painting, and crafts.
II. Technique focus
Students choose to focus on specific techniques such as
perspective drawing, watercolor, portrait drawing, or contour
drawing
III. Exploring Artists and Impact
This curriculum is for a student who is interested in learning
about a variety of artists and their impact on society
or in the world while exploring the artist's techniques
with hands-on projects.
IV. Art for Wellness
Sketchbooks and journals are primary in this curriculum.
Students will explore backgrounds, layers, and themes as
they create their collections of drawings, collages,
paintings and ideas.
