About Michael

Hi! I’m Mister Vaughn, a certified high school ESL math teacher with 4 years of experience, as well as a year of experience teaching middle school science. I hold bachelor's degrees in Physics and Political Science, as well as master's degrees in Education and TESOL. In addition to being a teacher, I'm currently in my 3rd year as my school’s math department leader.

My teaching approach focuses on understanding, not memorization. I help students break down questions, think critically, and reason through problems step by step. This approach not only prepares students for tests like the SAT or college courses, but also builds skills that are useful in real life.

I create free instructional videos on YouTube to make math accessible to everyone, but for students who want personalized, one-on-one guidance, I offer tutoring sessions through SuperProf. In our sessions, we’ll focus on your individual goals, tackle challenging topics together, and build your confidence in math.

About the lesson

In my tutoring sessions, we focus on understanding, not memorization. Each session is tailored to your individual needs — whether that’s homework help, test prep, or building a deeper grasp of math concepts.

I guide students to break down problems, think critically, and reason through solutions step by step, so that you not only get the right answer but also learn the skills to tackle new and unfamiliar problems with confidence.

We’ll work at your pace, focusing on concepts you find challenging, reinforcing areas where you need extra practice, and building a solid foundation for long-term success in math. My goal is for you to understand the ‘why’ behind each method, rather than just memorizing formulas or procedures.

By the end of each session, you’ll have a clear understanding of the topics covered, strategies to solve similar problems on your own, and increased confidence in your math skills.

Whether you’re preparing for exams like the SAT, strengthening your skills for school, or aiming to develop strong problem-solving abilities for the future, my lessons are designed to help you think critically, learn effectively, and succeed in math.
