I am BC Certified teacher. I currently work at an elementary school near UBC where I teach: Reading, Writing, Numeracy, Social Studies and more. I have a background in early literacy interventions and a passion for teaching reading and writing.

I want my students to find a love for reading and writing. I teach within their zone of proximal development so that they get just enough challenge. With readers and writers, I start by building rapport. Next I will do a few assessments to see where they are at developmentally. In coming sessions we will build on their foundations to make them better readers and writers through literacy based games, decoding skills and practice.

Perfect! Hillary is very kind and professional. My son who hates to do any type of reading took to her very quickly. She is very knowledgeable and has a great disposition and personality. She brings all her own materials and engaged my child quite quickly with fun reading games while completing his assessments. She is definitely an amazing teacher. I am keeping her as long as I can! I highly recommend Hillary to anyone.
