Why do you want to work as an online teacher?
I want to help kids from all parts of the Philippines excel academically. From what I can see, most big tutorial centers are based in the big cities. I want to help kids from geographically disadvantaged regions get all the help they need to thrive in school.
Describe strategies for engaging students in an online environment
I think using interactive learning materials, referencing pop culture, and being relatable (not intimidating) to students would make for an engaging online session.
What do you enjoy most about teaching?
I enjoy helping my kids excel at school. I like helping them unlock their full potential, and I want the best for them. I also want to be a positive influence in their lives.
How would you handle difficult students or challenging behavior?
I would be patient and understanding in all my dealings with them. Kids are not being difficult because they want to; oftentimes, there are external factors affecting their behavior. It could be that they have a difficult home environment, or they experience difficulties at school for whatever reason. My goal is to help the kid feel relaxed and know that I am someone they can rely on for help and guidance, not someone who is their enemy.
How would you adjust your teaching methods for students who are in different phases of learning?
I would be patient and understanding with them. Kids learn at different paces. Punishing those who take longer to grasp concepts and ideas would be unfair and inconsiderate.
