About Makena
My name is Makena Kramer and I am currently a sophmore at the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee. I have specialized my knowledge in the STEM field, specifically in Science courses, throughout high school and now have continued this pursuit into college. I have been tutoring students since my junior year of high school for a wide variety of ages and difficulty levels. Several subjects I have taught in are basic Algebra, Geometry, and my personal favorite, entry-level college chemistry. I prefer to tutor students in grade school (K-12), and I am looking forward to helping these students master their studies!

My approach to teaching is very visual. I tend to shy away from reading straight from the textbook and I prefer to show visuals, which may include working through an example problem alongside the student. Coming to a solution together with the student ensures that they are able to connect with the material and retain the information by doing it themselves. I also do not require any other out-of-session work in addition to their homework and any given required readings from their course. During my tutoring sessions, I like to identify beforehand a homework problem or a subject that the student finds difficult to understand, then cover that specific material through worksheets that I provide.
