I am a college sophomore majoring in finance, with two years of experience mentoring children with special needs. My teaching method is adaptable, as to best fit the needs of the person I am teaching. My approach as a tutor has always been to listen first, and redirect rather than reprimand. Rather than saying “no,” or “that is wrong,” I prefer to redirect with “what if we tried..” or another encouraging phrase, to acknowledge all the work my student is doing to ascertain new knowledge.
