About Makayla

Hi, I’m Makayla, a dedicated and experienced English tutor with a passion for helping students grow in confidence and ability. I’ve been working with learners of all ages for several years, focusing on building strong foundations in reading, writing, spelling, and grammar. As a current college student, I understand the academic challenges many students face—and I know how to guide them through it with patience and encouragement. My goal is to make learning feel approachable and rewarding. I take pride in being reliable, professional, and always prepared to meet my students where they are. About the lesson

As a tutor, I believe every student learns differently, so I tailor each session to their unique needs and learning style. My teaching method is patient, encouraging, and interactive. I focus on building a strong foundation in reading, writing, and language by using clear explanations, real-life examples, and practice that makes sense, not just memorization.

A typical lesson with me, begins with a quick check-in to review past work and see where the student might still be struggling. From there, we dive into targeted practice, this could include reading short passages together, breaking down essay prompts, working through grammar and spelling exercises, or revising writing line by line. I always end with a brief review and give students a simple takeaway or skill to focus on between sessions.

What sets me apart is my ability to connect with students in a way that makes them feel confident and capable, especially those who may feel intimidated by reading or writing. I make learning feel personal, supportive, and even fun.
