About Yanasely
I am a dedicated college student and paralegal with about three years of experience working part-time in the CSTEP program in New York, teaching children across various subjects. I also have tutored kids for four years prior to working within the STEP Program. I especially enjoy teaching literature and English, as many students struggle with reading comprehension and writing effective answers in their assignments. As a student myself, I understand how discouraging it can be when teachers don’t connect one-on-one to identify the real challenges a student faces. I had a tutor who helped me in that way, and I am passionate about providing that same personalized support to other kids who have the potential to read and write well but either get bored with the work or find the tasks difficult. Beyond academics, I want to help my students develop strong communication skills that will serve them in college and beyond, as building connections is just as important today as education and experience. My goal is to train my students to grow both in confidence and intelligence.

I offer one-on-one English tutoring for students from kindergarten through senior year of high school. My lessons focus on building strong foundations in comprehension, grammar, vocabulary, critical thinking, and structured writing, while also developing advanced skills such as analyzing symbolism, irony, motifs, and deeper themes. I guide students in comparing and contrasting texts or propaganda from different cultures or time periods, and in writing various types of essays—persuasive, argumentative, literary analysis, and research-based—while helping them craft strong thesis statements, structured arguments, and proper citations in MLA or APA format. In addition to writing, I help students improve presentation and communication skills, including creating professional PowerPoints, discussion posts, and projects, as well as planning, organization, public speaking, debating, and evaluating opposing arguments. I also offer support for mock trial preparation in criminal justice and history, ensuring students can research, prepare, and present their ideas effectively. Whether your goal is to strengthen basic skills or master advanced techniques, I will do my all to make my explanations clear, structured and understanding to help your children succeed academically and communicate with confidence. I hope you will consider choosing me as your child’s personal tutor. Thank you!

I hope my pricing is clear and fair. At our first meeting, I’ll give your child a simple test to assess their current reading Lexile level, along with a brief questionnaire about their strengths and challenges. This helps me determine if I’m the right fit and how I can best support them. In future sessions, I’m happy to bring practice assignments that I will have printed out or books that match your child’s Lexile level to your home or tutoring location—free of charge. I have a collection of books for various ages, especially useful if there’s a book report or assignment coming up. Please just send me a message in advance so I can be prepared prior to our session. Please note, I will charge the annual price of the book if the books I provide your child are damaged or mishandled. Additionally, for an extra $10 ($10 gives you 2 PDF books on your topic / 1 textbook PDF), I can search for free full copies of your needed textbook PDFs or book PDFs if purchasing the physical book that your child needs is costly for whatever subject your child’s assignment is about. I can send you these PDFs directly to your provided email or phone number. If I’m unable to find the requested materials, there is no charge, and I will notify you beforehand. As compensation for the time spent, I will also look for deals or the least costly seller for that book or textbook, to help reduce your expense (buying books or textbooks at full price is outrageous). Thank you so much for your understanding!
