My lessons are structured to balance technical skill-building with creative exploration, giving students both the tools and the confidence to express themselves visually. Whether teaching charcoal drawing, shape and form, oil painting, or mixed-media processes, I design each session to be engaging, accessible, and rooted in clear learning outcomes. I often begin with a short introduction or contextual talk connecting the day’s topic to art history, contemporary practice, or wellbeing. Demonstrations follow, breaking down processes step-by-step, from folding a single-sheet zine to layering oil glazes or constructing depth through tone. Students are then encouraged to test techniques hands-on, working independently. Creative reflection is an important part of my teaching. I use brainstorming, mind mapping, and quick sketch exercises to help students loosen up, generate ideas, and connect art-making to their own experiences. In longer sessions, students have dedicated time to develop a piece of work using drawing, collage, painting, or experimental materials, with individual guidance and constructive feedback throughout. My overall aim is to create an inclusive, supportive environment where students can learn foundational techniques, explore new methods, and discover personal meaning and expression through art. If you’d like, I can also tailor this for: • younger learners • adults/beginners • university-level teaching • a more formal academic tone • a more playful/creative workshop tone
