About Harsh

Hi, I’m Harsh, a senior at Cornell University studying Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence. I’m passionate about teaching and helping students build confidence in subjects that can often feel overwhelming at first. Over the past four years, I’ve worked with a wide range of students, and I genuinely enjoy seeing that moment when things start to “click” for them.

In addition to tutoring, I’ve spent five semesters as a teaching assistant for introductory programming courses at Cornell, where I led classes, created course content, and supported students one-on-one. This experience has taught me how to explain complex ideas clearly and adapt to different learning styles. I’ve worked with students who were completely new to coding and helped them grow into confident programmers capable of building their own projects.

Outside of academics, I’ve also gained real-world experience through software engineering internships at RBC Capital Markets and Capital One. These experiences allow me to bring practical insights into my teaching and show students how what they’re learning applies beyond the classroom. I take pride in being approachable, patient, and professional, and I aim to create a learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and challenging themselves.

As a tutor, I focus on helping students truly understand concepts rather than just memorizing solutions. I strongly believe that programming is not just about writing code, but about learning a new way of thinking—breaking down problems, recognizing patterns, and developing logical solutions. My goal is to help students build this mindset first, then reinforce it through guided practice and real-world examples. I like to simplify complex topics into clear, manageable steps and encourage active problem-solving so students feel engaged and confident throughout the learning process.

A typical lesson usually starts with a quick review of previous material and any questions the student may have. From there, I introduce the main topic, walk through key concepts with examples, and then solve problems together. As the student becomes more comfortable, I gradually shift toward letting them take the lead while I guide and provide feedback. I often incorporate practical applications or interview-style questions so students can see how what they’re learning applies beyond the classroom.

What sets me apart is my experience working with students at all levels, especially through my time as a teaching assistant at Cornell. I’ve helped students who had never written a single line of code grow into confident programmers capable of building complex applications. That progression is something I take a lot of pride in, and it has shaped how I teach—meeting students where they are and helping them steadily level up. My lessons are best suited for middle school, high school, and college students learning programming, as well as those preparing for technical interviews or looking to strengthen their foundations in computer science.
