About Roz
Hello! My name is Roz and I was born and raised in SF. I have taught English at various public schools in the city for four years and am going back to grad school this fall. I focus on creating learning environments where students feel confident and comfortable to explore new ideas. Whether we’re working on writing skills, reading comprehension, or preparing for assignments, my goal is to make sure every student feels supported and challenged in a way that works for them.

In a typical session, we might dive into a close reading, work through a writing assignment, or break down an essay together. I focus on building solid skills in literary analysis, argument structure, and clear, confident writing.
But learning doesn’t have to be all about drills. I believe it should be fun and creative, too. That’s why I like to mix things up with open-ended prompts, student choice, and texts that spark curiosity. I want students to feel empowered and excited about what they’re learning, not just ready for the next test.
What sets me apart is my experience designing and teaching full English units in the classroom. I bring the same level of thought and care to one-on-one tutoring. I’ve worked with a wide range of students—struggling readers, honors students, English learners, and those with IEPs or 504s—and I tailor instruction to meet each learner’s needs.
My tutoring is best suited for middle and high school students (grades 6–12) who want to improve in English Language Arts, writing, or academic confidence. Whether we’re working on a school assignment or building long-term skills, I aim to make our sessions both rigorous and rewarding.
