About Anne

As a current GTCS-registered Principal Teacher of Mathematics, I am passionate about helping every student realise their potential. With over 10 years' experience teaching Mathematics in Scottish secondary schools and more than 7 years' experience providing successful one-to-one tutoring both online and in person, I understand that every learner is different and deserves an approach tailored to their individual needs.

I hold a Degree with Distinction in Mathematical Sciences, a PGDE in Secondary Mathematics and a PGDC in Middle Leadership. In my current role, I lead curriculum development, assessment, moderation and quality assurance, ensuring I remain up to date with the latest standards and expectations for Scottish qualifications.

Parents can be confident that their child will receive lessons from an experienced, approachable and supportive teacher who is committed to building confidence as well as improving attainment. I believe that success in mathematics comes from understanding, encouragement and consistent practice, and I work hard to create a positive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and challenging themselves.

Before becoming a teacher, I worked as an Investment Manager in banking and asset management, giving me valuable experience of applying mathematics in real-world financial settings. This enables me to show students how the mathematical skills they develop at school can open doors to a wide range of future careers.

Whether your child needs support to build confidence, improve their grades or prepare for National Qualifications, I will provide personalised, high-quality tuition designed to help them achieve their goals and develop lasting confidence in mathematics.

About the lesson

My lessons focus on building understanding first, then developing confidence and exam technique. I break complex mathematical concepts into manageable steps, using clear explanations, worked examples and guided practice before encouraging students to solve problems independently. Throughout each lesson, I regularly check understanding and adapt my teaching to ensure students remain engaged and make steady progress.

I am a current GTCS-registered Principal Teacher of Mathematics with over 10 years' experience teaching Mathematics in Scottish secondary schools and more than 7 years' experience providing successful one-to-one tutoring, both online and in person. Alongside teaching, I lead assessment, moderation and quality assurance within my department, giving me an excellent understanding of the standards required for success in Scottish qualifications.

Lessons are typically 60 minutes, although longer sessions can be arranged where appropriate, particularly during exam preparation. Each lesson is carefully planned and can include revision, homework support, exam practice, problem-solving strategies and techniques to improve confidence and independent learning.

I specialise in teaching National 4, National 5, National 5 Applications of Mathematics and Higher Mathematics, as well as supporting S1–S3 pupils. Whether a student is aiming to improve confidence, secure a pass or achieve the highest grades, I provide patient, supportive and structured tuition designed to help them reach their full potential.

Before becoming a teacher, I worked as an Investment Manager in banking and asset management. This experience allows me to demonstrate how mathematics is applied in real-world careers, helping students appreciate the practical value of the subject alongside their academic studies.
