About Monica
Hi, I’m Monica! I am a doctoral researcher in Linguistics at IIT Gandhinagar, specializing in syntax and semantics (the ways languages structure meaning). Alongside research, I have over 3 years of experience teaching and mentoring students at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. From assisting large university courses to designing my own mini‑courses, I’ve learned how to make complex ideas clear, practical, and even enjoyable. I’ve presented my work at national and international conferences, published creative writing, and trained communities in language documentation. I also hold a Gold Medal in Linguistics and have qualified the UGC‑NET, so I know exactly what it takes to succeed in competitive academic spaces. But more than qualifications, what drives me is helping students who feel stuck — whether in writing assignments, preparing for entrance exams, or finding their voice in SOPs and proposals. My approach is patient, visual, and feedback‑oriented: you’ll always walk away with clarity and a clear plan for improvement. I bring together my academic expertise and mentoring experience to guide students like you in: - Strengthening grammar and academic English, - Writing clear and convincing essays and papers, - Preparing effective SOPs and proposals for higher studies, and - Getting exam‑ready for NET and university entrance tests. My goal is simple: to make you feel confident in your writing, your applications, and your future.

When students come to me, they are often bright and motivated but feel stuck. I often hear the following: - “My grammar isn’t strong enough.” - “I don’t know how to structure my paper.” - “How do I make my SOP stand out?” Why Learn with Me: - I teach grammar through your own writing, not random rules. - I help you organize your ideas step by step so your writing is clear. - I show you how to write SOPs and proposals as strong personal stories. I- give feedback like an examiner/reader, so you know how your work is seen. - After every class, you get a clear checklist for revision and improvement. A. Academic Writing / Grammar Class (60 mins): 1. Warm‑up & Focus (5–10 mins) - Identify today’s writing/grammar issue (e.g., sentence clarity, tense, paragraph flow). 2. Concept + Practice (25–30 mins) - Learn/review the rule or structure. - Apply it directly to the student’s own draft or exercises. 3. Feedback & Correction (15 mins) - Go through their text together, highlight errors, and rewrite for clarity. 4. Wrap‑up & Homework (5 mins) - Give a short checklist or practice task to improve before the next session. B. SOP / Application Prep Class (60 mins): 1. Understanding Your Story (10 mins) - Discuss academic goals, key experiences, and target program. 2. Structuring the Draft (25–30 mins) - Break down SOP/proposal into sections (intro, goals, fit). - Work on 1–2 paragraphs together for clarity + impact. 3. Reader’s Eye Review (15 mins) - Look at the draft from the point of view of an admissions committee. - Identify what works, what’s missing, and what to cut. 4. Next Steps (5 mins) - Share a personalized revision plan or outline for finishing the draft. Who My Classes Are For: 1. UG, PG, and PhD students in Engineering and Science/Linguistics / English / Humanities → struggling with academic writing, grammar, or structuring papers. 2. Students preparing for NET (Linguistics) or University Entrance Exams → need help with clear answers, grammar, and writing practice. 3. Applicants for MA / MPhil / PhD programs → who want guidance in writing strong SOPs, research proposals, or application essays. 4. International students / non-native English writers → who need grammar and clarity support in academic English. 5. Any student who wants constructive feedback → on assignments, essays, theses, or draft applications before submission.
