About Paula
Paula Riofrío is an Ecuadorian-born Interdisciplinary Artist, Writer, Arts Facilitator and Translator based in London. Her practice is rooted in somatic exploration through sound, movement, and language, creating work that bridges experimental sound arts, dance philosophy, and literary translation. Her work has been presented at venues including Malayerba Theatre, Compañia Nacional de Danza, Café OTO, The Vortex, Siobhan Davies Studios, Ausland, and festivals across Ecuador, Germany and the UK.
Paula has collaborated with esteemed artists such as Rhodri Davies, Annie Pui Ling Lok, and organisations including London Contemporary Dance School, Mental Fight Club, and Centro Experimental de Danza. She has produced performance work, dance films, and sound compositions presented internationally, while her translations have been featured in award-winning documentary films and literary publications.
Her writing is published in Dance Arts Journal, Dance Context, Elipsis Magazine, and Scene Recovery. Paula's translation work includes the award-winning documentary La danza del Niño Maestro and publications through Poetry Translation Centre. She co-produced and facilitated Armonía Natural: Danza Femenina in the Galapagos Islands and has been a key contributor to Dance Arts Journal as journalist, writing facilitator, and commission manager.
