About Cao
Hello! I am a medical student with an extensive academic background in the natural sciences and quantitative problem-solving. Succeeding in medical education demands deep conceptual mastery, logical reasoning, and disciplined study systems—the exact skills I pass on to my middle and high school students.
Through years of private tutoring, I have helped students transform math, chemistry, and biology from daunting subjects into areas of genuine confidence. Rather than pushing rote memorization, I break complex topics down into intuitive, first-principles logic so students understand the why behind every formula and mechanism.
My lessons are patient, highly structured, and tailored to the student's pacing. Every session includes interactive digital whiteboard work, high-resolution PDF notes sent afterward, and clear communication on academic progress. My goal is to deliver measurable grade improvements while building the critical thinking skills needed for long-term academic independence.

- Who the Lessons Are For: Middle school (Grades 6–8) and high school (Grades 9–12).
- Subjects Covered:
+ Mathematics: Pre-Algebra, Algebra I & II, Geometry, Trigonometry, Precalculus, and Digital SAT Math.
+ Chemistry: Middle school general science, high school Chemistry (Honors, AP, IB SL/HL, and IGCSE/A-Levels).
+ Biology: General Biology, Cellular/Molecular Biology, Anatomy & Physiology, and AP/IB Biology.
- Goals: Remedial catch-up, advancing ahead of the school curriculum, tackling difficult STEM assignments, or targeted prep for unit exams and standardized tests.
- Teaching Method & Techniques
+ First-Principles Logic Over Rote Memorization: Science and math are logical systems, not lists of facts to memorize blindly. I break abstract concepts down into simple, intuitive mental models so students understand the why behind every formula and biological pathway.
+ Dynamic Digital Whiteboard: Every session is fully interactive. I use real-time digital whiteboards with live diagramming, color-coded chemical mechanisms, and step-by-step mathematical derivations.
+ Active Recall & Socratic Guidance: Rather than lecturing passively, I guide students through problem-solving using structured prompts. If a student gets stuck, we diagnose the exact conceptual gap rather than simply handing over the answer.
+ Past-Paper & Pattern Analysis: For exam-focused students, we analyze past-paper questions to uncover recurring question patterns, common examiner traps, and time-management shortcuts.
- Structure of a Typical 60-Minute Lesson
+ Review & Diagnostic (10 mins): Review homework bottlenecks, address remaining doubts from previous classes, and complete a quick warm-up problem.
+ Concept Deconstruction (20 mins): Introduce the new core topic using visual diagrams, real-world analogies, and foundational logic.
+ Guided Application (20 mins): Work through practice problems together, shifting from straightforward baseline exercises to complex, multi-step exam questions.
+ Independent Demonstration & Recap (10 mins): The student walks me through the final problem unassisted to verify mastery. We assign targeted practice and review next steps.
- What Sets Me Apart
+ Medical Student Perspective: Excelling in medical school demands mastering massive volumes of complex chemistry and biology under tight timelines. I share the exact retention strategies, visual note-taking frameworks, and analytical reasoning methods that high-performing students use in demanding university programs.
+ Laser-Focused Specialization: By deliberately focusing solely on math, biology, and chemistry—and excluding unrelated subjects—I can integrate the natural overlap between mathematical calculations and chemical/biological systems seamlessly.
+ Structured Takeaways: Students receive high-resolution PDF exports of all digital whiteboard notes immediately after each session, ensuring they have an organized reference library when studying for exams.
