About Judy
I believe that anyone can learn to sing, and I have spent over five years helping people discover that joy. I hold a Doctor of Musical Arts in Vocal Performance, but my true passion is working with adult beginners and hobbyists. Many of my students are returning to music after a long break or simply want to sing confidently in community choirs, at karaoke, or in social settings.
My studio is a low-pressure, encouraging environment where you can learn at your own comfortable pace. We place a strong focus on healthy habits like proper breathwork, vocal relaxation, and steady posture. I also incorporate mindfulness into my teaching to help you overcome performance anxiety and develop a rich, warm tone.
We can explore a wide variety of musical styles together, including jazz, folk, blues, and contemporary adult music. I once taught a retired accountant who was terrified of singing in public, but they eventually joined a local folk choir with total confidence. Singing is a beautiful form of self-care, creativity, and personal growth. It is never too late to start or restart your musical journey for pure enjoyment, and I look forward to welcoming you into my studio.

My lessons offer a warm, interactive, and goal-oriented space designed to help you thrive. We focus heavily on singer songwriter development, basic self accompaniment on piano or guitar, and performing original material. I teach practical skills like melody creation, lyrical flow, stylistic choices, and recording vocal demos.
To spark your creativity, I use collaborative exercises and simple recording setups during our time together. I love working with musicians from traditional backgrounds, like church instrumentalists who want to start singing, or versatile artists exploring new genres. For example, I recently helped a church pianist learn to sing lead vocals smoothly while playing.
We work on finding your own style so you can stand out as an independent artist. I am deeply committed to your detailed progress and want to see you gain true confidence in your artistic self expression. These lessons will help you cultivate a completely unique musical voice.
