About Makinba
I am a qualified teacher of Mathematics, Functional Skills and EFL, and I have been teaching Mathematics from KS1 to post K5 successfully for the past thirty-five years. I have taught the Edexcel Functional Skills Exam at all levels. I also have experience of GCSE 9-1, and at KS5 I have taught the Edexcel modular and University of Cambridge Linear Courses. I offer Statistics as a specialism as I have lectured probability and Statistics at degree level. I also taught ESOL abroad for four years.
I have a long history of small group intervention work from pre-GCSE to post A level. I excel in this role because I have empathy with struggling students and will run that extra mile in order to ensure that they achieve to target and beyond. This role also lends itself to mentoring, as you have to point the learner in the right direction by illuminating their progress as well as putting effective plans in place, and ensure that they achieve the objective within often a tight time frame.
