About Lucy
I am an experienced Early Years and KS1 teacher, with a particular passion for supporting children at the very beginning of their learning journey. I have also had the privilege of being a Phonics Lead for two years, developing my knowledge and understanding of how children learn to read and supporting others to build strong foundations in phonics.
Having recently had a baby of my own, I feel that my love and passion for teaching has grown even stronger. Watching my own baby develop, explore and discover the world has reminded me just how incredible those early years are and how much opportunity there is to nurture a child’s curiosity and confidence.
I absolutely love working with children and seeing them grow, develop and discover what they are capable of. For me, one of the most important things we can give a child is a “can-do” attitude — the confidence to have a go, make mistakes, keep trying and celebrate their achievements.
I want children to develop not only the academic skills they need, but also the confidence, resilience, independence and positive attitude towards learning that will support them throughout their lives. Watching a child grow in confidence and realise, “I can do this!” is one of the most rewarding parts of teaching.

Skills aren’t built overnight. They need to be practised, developed and built upon over time to create confidence and mastery. Every child is different, and we all learn in our own unique way. Discovering how we learn best is an important part of the learning journey — and it should be fun!
I love creating lessons that capture children’s imagination and make learning feel exciting rather than like a chore. My aim is to create activities that feel like fun and play, while their brains are busy growing, developing and making connections.
For me, the most rewarding part of teaching is seeing that moment when a child suddenly understands something, gains confidence in their ability, and realises, “I can do this!” Those moments are what make learning meaningful and help build skills that last a lifetime.
