About Yie Shern

I am an Economics undergrad studying in UK's top Economics university, LSE. I have taught both A-Levels and IGCSEs students (around 20 of them previously), all of which have gotten A/A*s. I have been teaching for the past 2 years and greatly enjoy my time teaching students get top grades. My lessons are not only constrained to the classroom; I have 5 years of experience in teaching under-privileged children in Malaysia and often carry out lots of humanitarian missions around South-East Asia. Lastly, as of recently, I have also begun helping Year 12s with their personal statements and admissions. I have a great deal of knowledge in further education not only in the UK, but also in other countries like the US or in Asia.

I do both group studies and individual sessions, although I strongly prefer the latter. The reason for this is that it allows 100% engagement and communication between both the student and the teacher. I have always believed that the best study method is not one which works for everyone, but one that the student themselves have created which is best suited for their situation. My job is to find the best study method for the student and not to teach them the "one true way" to study. I feel that especially with the new education reforms, many teachers cannot keep up with the new syllabus and are often left behind teaching using ancient methods, having a tutor is a good way of "keeping up with the times".
