About Horia

I am a recent graduate of Electrical and Electronic Engineering. From first grade up to the graduation ceremony, I was surrounded by mathematics. Even during holidays, not practising mathematics was sometimes difficult, due to my mom being a teacher of this subject!

In all my years of studying, I developed a method of solving problems which made me deepen my understanding of the subject. This method, based on continuous simplification of the problem we need to solve, allowed me to constantly get better at maths and choose a STEM career.

To put it simply, I always found it rewarding to know that, whatever I know or understand, I can share with others. I enjoy teaching, and I am happy to say that I taught mathematics to students before, mainly Calculus. Teaching and sharing my understanding of maths is something that I want to continue to do.

As one of the finest guitarists said: "The most beautiful thing about learning is that nobody can take it away from you."

About the lesson

We often encounter challenging problems in mathematics, which might seem daunting in the beginning.

A useful procedure through which we can solve these problems looks like this:

1) Gradually simplify the problem up to the point where we start to understand what is going on.

2) Step by step, we build upon our knowledge and increase the complexity of the problem.

3) Repeat step 2 until solution to problem is found!

Together we can go through this flow and see how it can practically help us.

Lessons typically last one hour, but could last slightly more depending on subject.

I am a STEM Graduate and thus have been surrounded by mathematics my whole academic career. I also have some tutoring experience, having taught IB level calculus.

My lessons are for A level /IB level students who would like to learn more about Calculus or Algebra, but also for GCSE students.
