About Makayla
I am an undergraduate at the University of North Texas who aspires to receive their bachelors in Electrical Engineering. I have always had a keen eye for math problems and the idea of patterns. I love to do brain-challenging puzzles in my free time such as Wordle, Sudoku, and Solitaire. I tend to be very goal-orientated with the kind heart of wanting others to succeed as well. The mental, emotional, and physical well being of any person I may talk to/ teach is the most important thing to me. You can't learn without a clear mind, a healthy body, and a loved heart. Overall, teaching math has always been something I've ended up doing whether that is helping other students in the classroom, or giving homework help to my younger siblings.

As a student myself, I've always believed in the idea of accuracy before speed. Teaching children to accurately calculate problems and strengthen pattern recognition through repetition is something I incorporate not only for myself, but for others that I help. Due to the age range that I would be tutoring (10-18), the student's learning behavior and self confidence are things I always work with since there are many different ways to solve a problem. Understanding that learning a new subject can be difficult, I firmly advocate for students to take breaks or vocalize their needs while working through a problem.
