About Grace
I am a Physics tutor with 6 years of experience and an MEng in Electronic Engineering. I have taught over 190 students with a specific focus on the electromagnetic and electronics content of Physics and engineering programs at A-Level and university level. My engineering background means I approach Physics teaching with a consistently applied perspective that makes the connection between physical theory and practical electronic systems clear and concrete. I am particularly effective with students who study Physics alongside Electronics or Electrical Engineering and need to develop the deep connections between these disciplines. Let me help you develop an electronics Physics understanding that is grounded in electromagnetic first principles.

My Physics teaching in the electronics and electromagnetism domain specifically develops the deep connection between electromagnetic theory and the practical electronics that shapes modern technology. I teach circuit theory with full derivation from Maxwell's equations in the appropriate limits, because students who understand why circuit laws work — why Kirchhoff's laws are valid for low-frequency circuits, why they fail for distributed systems — make sense of both basic circuits and their limitations in a way that cookbook circuit analysis never provides. Semiconductor physics is developed from the quantum mechanical band structure of crystalline solids through to the specific doping and junction behaviour of n-type, p-type, and PN junction devices, because students who understand semiconductor physics from first principles have a far more durable and flexible understanding of electronics than those who learn device behaviour phenomenologically. I teach electromagnetic field theory with attention to the boundary conditions at material interfaces — why electric and magnetic fields change at boundaries between media, what conservation laws they satisfy — because these boundary conditions are the key to understanding wave reflection, transmission lines, and antenna behaviour. Transmission line theory is developed for students who need it, connecting the distributed circuit model to electromagnetic wave propagation, because this topic is fundamental to high-frequency electronics and is consistently underprepared. I use simulation software — SPICE for circuits, COMSOL for field problems — alongside theoretical development because simulation provides immediate verification of theoretical predictions and develops intuition about the behaviour of complex systems. My teaching goal is a Physics student who understands electronics from electromagnetic first principles.
