About Ralston
As an avid learner, I always encourage learning in others. I have been tutoring since 2011. In that time, I have helped over 200 students of all ages prepare for over 50 subjects, standardized tests (ACT, SAT, ISEE, SSAT, GRE), and foreign languages (Latin, Arabic, Spanish).
I began tutoring professionally in my Sophomore year at Emory as a class aide for the Arabic department and then branched out to tutoring privately, which I have been doing ever since. On average, my students see 10-15% increases in their grades and scores within 4-8 regular sessions, and some students have seen as high as 30% increases. I possess a wealth of knowledge in many areas, but one of the things that I find fun about learning is seeing how subjects connect to the real world. This is one of my greatest strengths as a tutor as I show students the different ways in which their studies connect to the world, their ambitions, and interests.
Foreign languages are a particular passion of mine. I have studied Latin, Arabic, Spanish, Japanese, Russian, Hebrew,Ancient Greek, and more, though, I currently only tutor Latin, Arabic, and Spanish. My major is in Latin, which I have studied for over 15 years, beginning in high school. I have been deeply involved in Latin at many levels since then, participating in Certamen matches, Junior Classical League leadership, CAMWS and National Latin Exam, as well as being a part of the Eta Sigma Phi Honors Society.

Every student is unique. Because of that, there are many different ways in which I approach lessons. The first time we meet, I will generally ask questions about your goals and assess your areas of strength as well as the areas that need improvement and which of these things are best to focus on in relation to your goal. After that, we will dive into any pressing assignments or topics to make the best use of your time but will go back and work on fundamentals to ensure that you have a strong foundation for future lessons and topics. If your goal is basic comprehension and to pass, we will focus on your assignments and key areas you must understand. If your goal is fluency, we will take a more immersive approach where I will speak more in the target language and focus more on key topics for your goals.
Recommendations
Recommendations come from relatives, friends and acquaintances of the tutor.
Ralston, has worked with my son on 2 different AP classes and his help has been invaluable. My son has done better and gotten more out of the classes because of his work with Ralston. I heartily endorse and recommend Ralston as a tutor!
Ralston provided excellent tutoring to my child that made a significant difference in grades, but also in confidence. His attitude, the tone of his voice and the patience he showed created an atmosphere that reduced the anxiety of homework and testing and enhanced opportunities to learn.
Ralston is one of the most patient and professional tutors our family has ever met, engaging our son from the very start as he works to effectively identify the individual learning needs of each student. Ralston exceeds expectations in his academic support and guidance across ages and stages, knowledgeable with a strong understanding of and ability to teach a variety of subjects ranging from language arts to math and sciences. Like a rare find, Ralston inspires each student to learn, even when they may not want to, leading to truly exceptional outcomes both short and long term.
