About Poorvaja

Hi, I’m Poorvaja — an Engineer by profession, and a teacher by passion. I’m always curious to know how school or university is treating someone younger than me, and that curiosity has kept me connected to teaching for over a decade. I have great memories from school as I was extremely sincere and scored good grades. But at the same time, I also know what it feels like to sit in class and not understand a word. Math used to be my biggest struggle, but with persistence and the right strategies, I turned things around and eventually became a university topper. That journey taught me not just the subjects, but also how to learn effectively. For the past 10 years, I’ve been teaching students of all ages — kids, teens, and adults. My classes are patient, interactive, and tailored to your needs. I break down complex ideas into simple, clear steps, and I’ll never move ahead until you feel confident. Whether it’s Math, English, or Science, my goal is to help you gain confidence, master concepts, and discover that learning can actually be enjoyable!

About the lesson

My teaching style
I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. The first thing I try to do is understand what exactly a student finds difficult and what they want to achieve. From there, I keep things simple—breaking concepts down step by step and connecting them to real-life examples so they actually make sense. I also give plenty of practice, whether that’s exercises, past papers, or small quizzes, because I’ve seen that practice builds real confidence. Over the years, I’ve also picked up some effective study techniques that helped me personally, and I like to pass those on so students can apply them in any subject.

What a lesson looks like-
Usually, I’ll start with a quick recap of what we did last time, then move into the new topic. I spend some time explaining it clearly, then we work through examples together. After that, I give students a chance to try things on their own while I guide them if needed. Towards the end, I clear up doubts, summarise the main points, and often give a short task or tip to practise before the next class. Of course, this isn’t rigid—if a student needs more time on something, we slow down and focus there.

Why learn with me?
I know what it feels like to sit in a classroom and not understand a word—that used to be me. That’s why I’m patient and never rush through lessons. I’ve been teaching for about 10 years now, and in that time I’ve worked with kids, teenagers, and adults, all at different levels. What makes me different is that I don’t just teach the subject; I teach students how to learn in a way that sticks, so they can carry those skills forward into anything they study.
