About Christophe
I first began tutoring two years ago. Since then I have tutored 14 different people in a variety of subjects. Here is a breakdown by subject and results.
-French GCSE: I taught three students for the final three months of their GCSEs. Two achieved A*s and one an A.
-History GCSE: I taught five people in periods that varied between two and six months. Three got A*s, two As and one a B (though this was a great success for a student who had been predicted a D).
-English GCSE: I have tutored four people in English. One got an A* in both English Language and English Literature, two got A*s in English Language but an A in Literature, another got an A in both Language and Literature whilst one got an A in Language and a B in Literature.
In addition to tutoring at GCSE I have also begun teaching IB students. Since this is new I have only taught three people in a combination of English, History, Politics and French. All of them are still in their first year of the course however so I have no results to show thus far. Nevertheless, having completed the baccalaureate I am in a position to impart not only subject specific knowledge but an understanding of how the course itself works, including the extended essay and theory of knowledge essay. I will also begin this year to help students with the UCAS process. Though I have no formal experience of doing this my personal experience of the process may prove invaluable to people struggling with personal statements and oxbridge interview practices.

My services will be of particular use to GCSE and International Baccalaureate students, as well as anyone preparing to undertake the UCAS university process. Having had to overcome all of these challenges in the last three years I know them by heart and therefore hold the unique position of being able to offer tried and tested help to students seeking tutoring in any of the following subjects: History (GCSE or IB), English (GCSE or IB), French (GCSE or IB) and Politics (for IB). I got A*s in both History and English at GCSE and was predicted 44/45 on UCAS for my IB in which I took History, Politics, English and French . Upon request additional help for UCAS and university applications can be arranged, including personal statements and practice oxbridge interviews.
The way I seek to teach revolves first and foremost around the student. A typical lesson might however involve an early summary of the topic to be studied, followed in turn by a deeper analysis of the content of said topic, before finally looking at exam technique, skills and tips. I would also be happy to mark any practice essays or exams that the student wishes to undertake. At the end of the day my objective is to help every student achieve his/her goals.
Recommendations
Recommendations come from relatives, friends and acquaintances of the tutor.
I first met Christophe two years ago when I was taking my GCSEs. Christophe tutored me in History and English, and I was thoroughly pleased with both his competence in the subjects, combined with his friendly and helping attitude, catering his tutoring style to my needs, and being flexible with times and lessons, always being at hand when I needed him. I would strongly recommend Christophe, as with his help I managed to not only understand the course better, but I also achieved A* in both subjects.
Christophe was very helpful in helping me achieve an A* grade at English lit and A at English language. His approach to tutoring was very tailored and professional and helped explain different concepts in detail and at the pace that was comfortable for me.
Money was very well spent with Cristophe, I would highly reccomend him to anyone interested in GCSE English tuition.Christophe first taught me for gcse French and especially helped me with oral and writing since his father is Belgian and therefore fluent! He got me an A* and so I have decided to continue having lessons with him for IB to help me grasp the much more difficult oral exam where you are expected to be more or less bilingual!
