About Amber
My name is Amber and I look forward to being your tutor! I have been a teacher, I have 16+ years experience, and I also have four school aged children. I have a BA degree in English Literature from the University of North Texas as well as certifications to teach EC-12 Special Education, EC-4, and 8-12 English, Language Arts and Reading. I’m originally from Texas but last year my family decided to move to Florida and it been so great living so close to the beach. I love art and reading and one of my favorite hobbies is painting rocks!

Being a mother of four school aged children as well as an experienced teacher I am very familiar with the expectations of the classroom both academically and socially. I’m very versed in the language and communication style that is both flexible and relatable to most kids and especially useful in teaching subjects they find most challenging. More than anything I love kids! I’ve always been around them since my mom taught and was also very seasoned in kindergarten prep. I’ve always wanted to teach and have kids of my own. My teaching style stems from getting to know my students! All four of my kids learn differently and I’m very skilled at adapting to the child and meeting them where they are at and developing lessons that work for their individual goals.
My lessons or tutoring centers around supporting what the child needs to work on at school from reading to just general day to day homework. Developing an individual plan upon working with a student is a must! I like the student and guardian to be a part of this process as it is a great way to involve the child in their learning. Every goal is made achievable and will be revisited as needed. Lesson plans will be produced upon request but I do liIke to remain flexible to the immediate academic demands.
