About Holly
I am a first year English student at the University of Lincoln, but I am originally from Staffordshire where I took my A levels one of which included English lit. During my time in sixth form I tutored a group of GCSE students weekly and particularly focused on Shakespeare and poetry, as it was discovered these were areas of improvement. I also worked with students from lower years who struggled with a classroom environment and needed someone to patiently attend to their individual needs.

I will begin with a free session where I get to know you and your reasons for seeking out online tutoring. I will ascertain what level of education you are at and which topics you want us to focus on before exam season or your deadlines.
We will then have sessions where we take one aspect of the topic at a time, for example the history that is relevant to a specific author. We will then apply this to an essay question that I will provide for you and discuss it together rather than you writing it down as I want you to have confidence in your ideas.
I will then provide a small task for you to do before the next session that we will discuss. E.g, you annotating an unseen poem for features of the poem's structure and then we will interpret them together in the following session.
My method is heavily based on us talking and you discovering things about a text from different perspectives rather than forcing you to memorise someone else's notes. I will push and challenge you but at the same time take a patient and caring approach as I want you to enjoy and succeed in English Literature.

Details
My rate is £13 an hour regardless of your level of education. I will be offering online sessions only via Skype particularly during this coronavirus period, this could change further on in the year or next year. If you wish to cancel a session, I would appreciate 24 hours notice and I am quite happy to reschedule for a time that suits us both. I won't charge you for the session that you cancel.
