About Christina
I have been teaching English in New York City middle and high schools for the last eleven years and have tutored privately for a number of students both in the city and across the country. From the explaining the nitty-gritty details of grammar and syntax to thinking through big-picture tasks like organizing a research paper, I love helping students strengthen their reading and writing skills in a variety of subjects.

I am a responsive tutor, interested in supporting your specific academic needs, and as such, I am prepared to be flexible-- I can support you as you work on a specific assignment with you (e.g. planning for, organizing and editing an upcoming essay), help with reading and understanding texts more deeply as you study or complete homework, or practice strategies for test preparation. In addition to time-sensitive help can also support with building foundational skills over time, such as grammar, vocabulary, and spelling/phonics with practice activities.
Although I am a middle and high-school English teacher, I hold Master's degree in as a Special Education Generalist (all subjects) from grades 7-12, and I have worked with students as young as 2nd grade. I am happy to work with students who need support with writing in any area of humanities. I am also happy to offer a combination of the two approaches (skill-building and assignment support) if needed.
