About Lily
As an English undergraduate at the University of Cambridge, I wish to spread joy and further the understanding of literature to students. Understanding English and writing is at the core of the school system, but, it can be challenging. I want to create a judge-free environment where students gain a deeper understanding of such a core subject.
I teach students of a variety of abilities; some are looking to pass exams, others want to apply to Cambridge. Both are on a journey to understanding literature better. I work using exam practice and practicing technical skills and vocabulary to ensure they can flourish in this core subject.

With experience of tutoring all over London, and in China for the last six years, I am an established English tutor.
I have some exclusive skills such as practical tips and aid for English applications to Oxbridge, as well as humanities personal statements. I also have practice in Oxbridge mock interviews for English and other humanities subjects.
I teach pupils from year 7 (aged 11) up until university applicants. My lessons last an hour minimum, but I’m open to discuss whatever fits a pupil best.
I wish to work with the student to find areas they wish to improve and add their own interests to create an academic flair to their work. This makes students stand out as candidates. Students will look at literary language, create quote banks, look at exam questions and carry out exam practices which I will mark and discuss in the lessons with them. I am to create a warm and communicative learning environment so students feel comfortable to ask for help if they need it.
I teach GCSE English language most often with candidates going from a level 5-8 within six weeks of regular teaching. I believe that if I can build a strong working relationship with a student, their grades, and attitude to learning improve almost instantly.
