About Tom
Hi I’m Tom! Im a musician and teacher specialising in guitar. I graduated from the University of Westminster in 2019 with a degree in Music. Alongside this I have been a member of multiple bands, playing live shows in venues all across the UK. I played both my own music and in the bands of other artists to help improve my musicianship. I have also worked behind the scenes within the music industry and have a wide and varied knowledge of the technical side (amps, pedals, equipment etc.).
I pride myself on being able to transfer my passion and enthusiasm into my students helping them engage on a deeper level. This ultimately helps build that crucial relationship between teacher and student. I have had experience teaching pupils within a band setup where I taught up to 9 children at a time across a spectrum of instruments. I also have experience teaching 1 to 1 and small group instrumental lessons for Lincolnshire Music Service and currently Ealing Music Service.

I believe that 1 to 1 lessons are unmatched when it comes to progress and building a solid foundation to teach on. I would run my lesson split into sections, the first being technique, using finger exercises and warm ups. These are very important in building muscle memory and making sure the pupil is learning the right techniques when it comes to finger placement.
The next section would be more practical based in the sense of learning an actual piece (from tab, chord charts or listening/memory) whether it be part of the Grade or a free choice. It is important to me that my students learn songs and music that they actually enjoy themselves. This, in my experience, really helps drive interest. It is also important that during the lessons we are continuously developing listening skills, as a musicians ear is his best friend.
I also like to spend time improvising over backing tracks to favourite song or even through composition. To end I would then go over some music theory based on what we have learnt so that the lessons comes back around full circle, helping solidify understanding. I will also provide material for my students to take home to practice such as scales, finger exercises, chord sheets, backing tracks and more.

Tom has been a fantastic tutor for Willow, she leaves feeling confident and bubbly. Tom really motivates her to practice. I couldn't be happier with Tom as a tutor. 10/19
Tom is a methodical and patient tutor and explains things in a easy to learn manner. As a beginner I knew nothing before coming to him and now feel confident enough to now go and learn songs off my own back before bringing them to the lessons.
He is passionate about what he does and that shines through during the lessons. I would highly recommend.I have known Tom since childhood and I am proud to say I have seen him develop into confident young man who is honest, trustworthy and able to show initiative.
Tom excelled at University and enjoyed a good reputation with pupils and teachers alike in his previous teaching post.
I would thoroughly recommend Tom.Tom is a patient and gentle teacher. His experience ranges from teaching primary school level in a classroom setting to helping retired folk on line or in their homes His process is tested and works very well for his students willing to put in the work. Tom is a creative songwriter and arranger and has bundles of energy to help you to progress and to help you reach your goals.
